Convert a DOCX with embedded pictures to PDF
Keep supported embedded images in a browser-generated PDF and check image placement alongside surrounding text.
A picture visible in an editor may be embedded in the DOCX archive or linked to a separate resource. Those are not equivalent inputs. PDFPilot keeps conversion local and does not fetch private remote image URLs to fill gaps. Start with a self-contained DOCX so the browser has the content it needs.
Settings and supported output
- Supported source
- DOCX with embedded, browser-supported images
- External image handling
- No remote document-asset upload or retrieval workflow
- Output
- Visual, image-based PDF pages
- Review
- Placement, crop, captions and page breaks
Follow this workflow
- Open the source document and save a DOCX copy with pictures embedded. Do not assume a link to a picture contains the picture data.
- Choose the DOCX in Word to PDF. If the converter reports unsupported content, read the error and return to the original editor.
- Convert and review all pages containing pictures. Compare the picture itself, its crop and the text or caption that follows it.
- Download and check the PDF separately before sharing. Keep the source DOCX for edits; the output is not intended to remain an editable Word layout.
Check the downloaded result
- Every expected embedded picture is present.
- Captions belong to the correct pictures.
- No picture or caption is clipped at a page boundary.
When to use another export method
Unsupported drawing objects and embedded media are not promised to render. Fonts and page breaks can differ. The resulting page text is not selectable or searchable.
Will a web image link automatically become a picture?
No. Embed the picture in the DOCX first, or export from the original editor. A hyperlink by itself is not image data.
